Overview
The study of megatrends represents the first collaborative exercise of REPLAN – Network of Planning and Foresight Services of Public Administration, dedicated to the practical application of long-term thinking through strategic foresight methodologies.
Among the wide range of activities that are part of the project, the following stand out: a) a literature review and information analysis aimed at systematizing and harmonising information for the next steps of the project; b) holding workshops, seminars and other participatory activities within REPLAN with the aim of identifying, evaluating, deepening and disseminating megatrends and their impacts for Portugal; c) consultation of experts and civil society; d) and the preparation of a report on megatrends and possible future impacts for Portugal, in collaboration with REPLAN entities belonging to the multisectoral foresight team.
Objectives
- To identify and regularly monitor a set of megatrends relevant to Portugal’s future, analysing its potential impacts at the national level.
- Disseminate, share the results and knowledge of foresight with public administration organisations, promoting the assimilation of the concepts and results of the exercise.
- To provide public administration organisations with elements for reflection and long-term strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen networking within REPLAN.
Duration
The project will run for two years (2023-2024). The results (the megatrends and the remaining forces of change) will be updated every five years.
