Analysing and improving productivity in Portugal

Overview

This activity aims to identify and deepen ways of intervening to improve productivity in Portugal, recognising it as a determining factor in per capita income growth. Based on the systematisation of empirical evidence, international benchmarking analyses and consultation with experts and relevant entities, a restricted set of concrete and priority public policy recommendations will be drawn up.

The project also foresees the construction of an integrated and holistic system capable of boosting and monitoring national productivity. At the centre of the expected results will be a set of concrete recommendations, considered priorities for improving productivity levels – as real income per worker – built on a coherent, participatory and results-oriented approach.

Objectives

  • To identify and propose around 10 concrete public policy measures that are considered priorities for improving productivity in Portugal.
  • Suggest an appropriate institutional framework for managing the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of productivity, ensuring the involvement of relevant actors such as experts, social partners and other responsible bodies.

Duration

The project will run from June 2025 to March 2026.
