The main purpose of this analytical note is to rationalise and increase knowledge on productivity in Portugal through analysis of its main determinants – both intrinsic and contextual. This paper summarises the main empirical evidence in the academic and institutional literature drawing on the administrative micro-data bases of Portuguese firms.
